El lugar denominado hoy Cortijo Torre de la Reina corresponde al asentamiento de retaguardia de uno de los campamentos del rey Fernando III durante la conquista de Sevilla.
A finales del siglo XIII e inicios del XIV fue propiedad de la Reina Doña María de Molina, lo que dio nombre hasta la fecha a esta edificación.
La fortaleza tiene un enorme interés por ser, además de posesión real, el único edificio rural de esta época en todo el entorno de Sevilla y es el único cortijo en toda España declarado Monumento Histórico Artístico Nacional desde 1977
